SENIORS EYES SPARKLE FROM OUR COMMUNITY SHARING THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

Home Care SpecialistsBaton Rouge, LA December 28, 2011 – The sparkle from the eyes of a senior who did not expect to receive a gift brings a joy that is hard to describe.  This spirit is shared with all the individuals and companies who donated to The Home Instead Senior Care Be a Santa to a Senior Program which distributed more than 500 gifts for needy seniors this year!

Most of these seniors generally do not have family around during the holidays and do not usually receive gifts.  The deserving seniors come from Healthcare Facilities and Non-Profit Organizations:  Landmark of Baton Rouge Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, St. Claire Manor Nursing Home, Sherwood Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, PACE (Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly), Catholic-Presbyterian Apartments, Bishop Ott Apartments and the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank – Adopt a Senior Program.

Wednesday, December 28, 2011 a crew from the Home Instead office had the privilege to personally give Christmas gifts to seniors who participate in the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank – Adopt a Senior Program.  These seniors come at the end of each month and pick-up a 50lb. box of food.

“Today’s time at the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank really brought some light to the sense of community we can have here in Baton Rouge. With so much news being dedicated to everything negative, we saw all three news stations take notice and provide coverage of an amazing group of people at the Food Bank providing an invaluable service to some of our most precious citizens.  We asked the community to take part in our Be a Santa to a Senior Program this year and they came through at a level that we couldn’t have predicted and sharing that outreach with the recipients of the Adopt a Senior Program was absolutely the highlight of this year’s program for me!,” said Matt Cohn, owner of Home Instead Senior Care.

Participating Sponsors includeAmedisys Hospice, Life Source Services of Baton Rouge, Feliciana Home Health, EF Research, Arkel Constructors, Rita B. Wallace & Associates Realtors, Prairieville Middle School, Lewis Physical Therapy, Timmons Truck Center, Chase Bank, Corporate Green, Galilee Baptist Academy, Remax Real Estate Group, Stan Douglas State Farm, Walker Freshman High, Elm Grove Baptist Church, Social Club – “Second 2 None”, Legacy Center and Southern University Alumni Association.
